10 directors – 10 short stories – 1 theme and then what do we get?
It’s Kerelacafe.
It was the idea of Malayalam director Renjith to introduce a new concept of having several short stories directed by various directors and making them into a single film. The idea clicked and Backwater Media and Entertainment was more than ready to provide their financial support to this project. The story is about the journey and a café in a railway station in the backdrop. Hence, this movie is called Kerelacafe.
Each director came with a story of ten to fifteen minutes in length based on the theme of ‘journey’. Though the short stories of Kerelacafe are based on a similar theme, yet they are different than one another and have their own identity and individuality. Each story has something to tell as they pass by the ‘Kerela Café”. And with ten stories together, Kerelacafe has finally become a 135 minutes movie. Malayalam superstars like Mammotty, Mohanlal, Jothirmayi, Jairam, Meera Nandan, Dileep etc. are all part of this mega project.
Though this concept has been used earlier in World Cinema, but definitely it is fresh in Mollywood and director Renjith has left no stone unturned to explore this marvellous opportunity to create something different yet classy. With the huge promotion, Kerelacafe is bound to rock the box office.
